Synopsis
When local police fail to find missing teenager Jodie, her mother, Maggie, is compelled to continue the search. Suspicion falls on Jodie’s boyfriend Finn, who’s in trouble with drug dealers and will do anything for money, despite being the spoiled son of a wealthy businessman. Finn accuses Maggie’s partner, Patrick, an investigative journalist, who is looking into irregularities at the fertility clinic owned by Finn’s father. Patrick discovers that a prominent local politician (Jodie’s father) is involved in the cover up at the clinic of unpaid egg donors. Maggie meets a carpenter working for Finn’s father, and they bond over nursing a crow with an injured wing. The crow begins to bring bits of junk as gifts, one of which Maggie recognises as Jodie’s earring. This leads her to a young girl locked in the carpenter’s basement. But Maggie has made a terrible mistake. Nothing is as it seems and Maggie’s strength and resolve are sorely tested as the plot twists its way to a violent and unexpected climax.
